CYBER & MISSION SUPPORT
We trained U.S. TENTH Fleet, the Operational Arm of the U.S. Fleet Cyber Command, cyber techniques used to prevent information loss during critical operations.

U.S. Fleet Cyber Command lacked the manpower to address the thousands of common vulnerabilities that plagued U.S. Navy unclassified networks, such as unpatched software and incorrect security settings. While at critically low manning levels, U.S. Navy required a method to cultivate the efficacy and efficiency of their workforce.
PROBLEM: U.S. Fleet Cyber Command Sought to Augment Workforce
Through Operation Cyber Dragon, SilverEdge leveraged the availability, accessibility, and scalability of Commercial and Open-Source cyber tools to develop curriculum that trained U.S. Navy sailor reservists the techniques and tools used to identify and fix common network issues related to unpatched software and incorrect security settings on U.S Navy unclassified networks.
This effort continues today and is now expanding the U.S Navy’s cyber workforce to reservist sites to include NAVSUP in Mechanicsburg, PA and NAVAIR in PAX River.
ACTION: Implemented Comprehensive Workforce Development Program
The training provided by SilverEdge during Operation Cyber Dragon educated a workforce that, to date, has prevented mission loss due to system or network outages during critical cyber operations from ~15,000+ down to ~4,000, a reduction of more than 66%.
This new approach to augmenting the U.S. Navy cyber workforce has set a standard for similar programs and allows for better prioritization of advanced personnel to focus their time and efforts on more significant and critical issues.
OUTCOME: Unplanned Mission Outages Reduced by +66%
